Sports Illustrated: Hate Mail from Cheerleaders and Other Adventures from the Life of Reilly

I decided to start the year with something easy – short stories (a collection of his Sports Illustrated columns from ’01-’07) by one of my favorite authors ever. Anytime you combine a sarcastic wit, Hallmark Card sentiment style & love of sports you will have won me over. Heck, I had a subscription to SI because of this guy – then I canceled it and switched to ESPN The Magazine when he did the same! Darn fool guy makes you laugh and cry. He’s really an observer of life through the lens of sports – not a pure sportswriter really so I think anyone would enjoy this. Of course, what *really* made me laugh was reading his pieces in here about Tiger Woods!! Even though a lot of his stories had post scripts so he could comment on how things may have turned out later (given that some were written at the beginning of the decade)….naturally the Woods stories had no updates for the events of ’09 – so I kind of grinned to myself imagining just what Rick would add now!!
