Let’s go caroling!

Drinks in hand, and well bundled, we cruised the streets of Del Mar knocking on doors and singing for unsuspecting residents – thankfully most who were home were happy to see us! Two couples in particular stood in their doorway and sang along with us. One gave out chocolates to the younger singers when we were done! In the picture above Coach and another friend focus intently on the lyrics sheet to sing the Twelve Days of Christmas. Somewhere along the way he took over the Five Golden Rings line and sang it opera style. Surprised many of us including his mom!
My little guy leads the singers in a rousing rendition of Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer. Now, he claims that he doesn’t like singing and that he did not really LIKE going caroling, yet he was always up front leading the songs. Hmmmmm ;->
The only decent picture I got of Coach’s Wife. She was the true song leader with jingle bells and enthusiasm. She called out the song to be sung and got the adults involved. This woman has a heart of gold, energy enough for 10 people and just loves all the kids that pass through her life.
Little hoodlum ready to sing. Oh yeah, he was miserable!
Coach with the cooler with the beverages that kept the adults vocal chords well lubricated 🙂 Amazingly we behaved this year! No vandalism! We just went back to the host house and ate dessert and hung out some more. I think this has become my favorite holiday event. Last year I went alone (no time to arrange for A to go with me). This year I was able to bring the little guy. Next year I am getting M to join us too. I felt like we spread some Christmas love out there tonight. It was awesome.
