Why does Oprah always speak to me?

First of all, I thought for SURE that I mentioned this already, but since Alto2 asked, I shall specify again – my mammogram in December showed some calcifications that they want to check out. It’s mostly a byproduct of the breast care center getting a newer, better machine which shows more detail including things you cannot feel (pretty awesome really!) Also, I apparently have dense breast tissue which means a higher tendency towards these calcifications. Anyhoo, a very simple procedure Wed afternoon, totally outpatient with only some icing of the breast for that evening but nothing more. Results most likely Monday rather than Friday afternoon just because it takes 48 hours and I will be the last appt of Wed. I am not over concerned as I have no family history of this at the technician says these kinds of things are nearly 90% harmless.

Today though, I had to get DS2 from school early since he was not feeling well. Headache and dizzy and congested cough going on there. No fever though so some motrin and couch time have already improved him. However, it was one of those rare days home mid-week when I could and did watch Oprah. I usually only see 2-5 of her shows a year. I love it and catch it when I can, but not nearly enough to want to record it and try to keep up with that many hours of TV. So, I play the Oprah roulette and hope for good shows. Several years ago the joke was that if *I* was watching it would be the biggest tear jerker of the year. I would actually warn Jax since she has mostly worked from home that she better be ready when I knew I would see it! However, the last couple of years I seem to catch her show when the theme is exactly the message that I need to hear. Today’s was a follow up show to last year’s Debt Diet Plan. They followed up on families who were picked out a year ago to go through financial makeovers and debt reducation plans. Now, what did I say was vaguely irritating me to the point where I turned into a cleaning/baking maniac? Money. By then end of her show I felt much better about the steps I am taking to to ease my stress. I also realized that my situation is not THAT bad!! It’s bad by MY standards, but man oh man, some of those families were 4x worse off than me. Yet they all reduced their original consumer debt balances by 20-25% in just one year. I can do that! Shoot, I can do better since mine compared to my income is not as high as theirs was. Phew. Thank you Oprah – I love it that you always tailor your shows to my immediate needs ;->
