Does everyone realize that it is still November? I was feeling a little pressured because I had not thought a bit about holiday preparation other than decorations what with the other distractions the last couple of weeks. The August moms started talking shopping lists 3 weeks ago, and many have indicated they are DONE (show offs!). My whole holiday shopping thought process has been severely stunted at this point. Anyhow, I was feeling a little more ‘with it’ this morning when I stumbled onto an idea for the Secret Santa exchange in my Cheers & Jeers group. Being another group that is on top of things, I had been assigned my recipient just after Thanksgiving. That one I knew needed to be handled this week since shipping gets tricky otherwise and everyone needs to have their gifts with them on the day we decide is ‘chat room present exchange’ day. On a side note, I have to say that this is such a fun thing!!! This is our third year to do this and it’s probably one of my most favorite nights of the season now. So, there I was at least feeling relieved that I had figured out something when I turned to write the checks for the baseball managers for the month and it hit me: It’s only Nov 28th!!! I started decorating more than one month before the Big Day! I ordered my holiday photo cards exactly one month before. I really only have to buy gifts for a few people. I am not behind! Phew. Heck, I even remembered to decorate my blog 🙂
Amber spent the day at the vet, but she is fine. Well, not 100% fine – she has a bronchial infection. You know, a cold. It’s either viral or bacterial so to be safe she gets a dose of antibiotics. Which one? Amoxil! yes, the same pink liquid that people get. Oh, and let me tell you how much she loves THAT! My first attempt was weak. I had the pink stuff in the dropper with a towel as I anticipated spillage. No luck. She clamped her jaw shut so tight she could have secured Fort Knox. Then she got mad and ran under the tree. Lovely. I let her calm down for a bit and then lured her out with treats and while she was approaching the food dish I held her head from behind and literally pushed on the sides of her jaw until she opened up out of reflex. *Squirt*! No spillage! Pink stuff all gone. Yay. A few minutes later as I rewarded myself with a nice sushi dinner, I heard a telltale *Gack* sound. Uh oh. Did her stomach reject the medicine and then the treats she ate right after? No! It wasn’t Amber, it was Chip! Absolutely perfect hair ball hacking timing. Lovely. One cat sneezing with a watery eye and another horking up a ginormous hairball during dinner. Why do I have cats again?!!
Oh, and far as I know, SportsBoy is having a good time at camp. However, of the photos from camp that were loaded onto the school web site today, he was not in a single one. I spotted many of his friends, but none of him. All of a sudden, he’s camera shy? Sigh.
Time for The Grinch. It’s not the same watching when you want on DVD. It’s much more special to catch it on network tv. Decorations now go down to almost the bottom row on the tree and the countdown calendar and card holding silver snowflake are up. Still no destruction. Let’s hope I say that all the way through New Years!
Tuna — try putting the pink stuff on tuna if nothing else works.
