First, one of the irritants in my life – clothing tags. Yes, it seems like a small thing. No, it isn’t something to write your congressperson about. Yes, I know there could be much much worse things. However, if you are sensitive to them as I am, you *know* what Big Thing it can be. How it can ruin your whole day. You now that using scissors to cut out the tag does not suffice. That little bit of cloth left on the collar is almost more irritating than the entire tag. It itches at the back of your neck all day and you constantly reach back to scratch doing your best imitation of a chimpanzee. Ugh!! I used to think that the best discovery I made was the seam ripper. That glorious tool which allows you to properly rip out the threads which connect the evil tag leaving a perfectly smooth surface never to itch again. They work perfectly on tags like the one below:
See how the top corners of the tag sit *below* the main collar seam? Perfect! That means that the stitches used to attach the tag were for the tag *only* and are not part of the actual seam. Removal of the tag will do no damage to the sweater. HOWEVER..oooh, and this makes me so mad….sometimes the manufacturer attaches the tag *within* the collar seam so that the stitches not only attach the tag, but also are part of the seam. Ripping the tag out means partially ripping open the seam itself. Now that pisses me off to no end. Yes, I know, I could we it back up – but I don’t sew! I don’t have a sewing machine and I have no intention of getting one. Why should I? Clothing is supposed to be DONE when I buy it. There should not be “some assembly required.” The same manufacturer above did just that on another top I bought yesterday and sure enough the collar seam is now ripped so that I can wear the top comfortably. Luckily, I am only going to wear it while out walking or maybe as a very casual weekend top and most likely the collar seam wont open any further. But WHY did that same company have to do it two different ways? Ok, so that is my grumble. THIS is the revolutionary way of tagging clothes that makes me soooo happy:
You see that? It’s stamped directly onto the fabric!! No TAG!!!! No ripping! No itching! It’s a damn miracle I tell ya. Thankfully I am seeing this more and more which leads me to believe that I am not the only crazy tag ripping consumer out there.
Here is another item that I found for the first time which has me happy as a clam (and also provides a reason for me to exercise!):
Jumbo Smarties!! These babies are the size of a quarter and about 1/2 inch thick. Just one is like eating an entire pack of the original size candies and satisfies your Smarties craving. Santa brought me two rolls of these. Oh yes! Life is good :->

I’m with you on the annoying tags. I’m soooo glad they’re doing this tagless thing with baby clothing especially. (of course, many will still slip in a tag on the side…???…come on, people, if it itches the back of the neck, it’s gonna itch everywhere else)

ah, the annoying tags. when BC was 2, she would literally flip over tags in her shirts. i had people here telling me she had a sensitivity disorder, she carried on so damn much over the tags. but i knew better. i knew she was channeling my dear-departed grandmother, who also cut out (very expensive) labels because they bugged the crap out of her.
praised be the person who invented just printing the label info on the inside of the garment! especially since i had a hell of a time remembering the sizes when i was either selling her old clothes or giving them away (is it 12 months? 18 months? who the hell knew!)
