8-6 victory thanks to a defense that played with some intense heart at the end. Thanks to some key long pass plays and then some pure speed. Thanks mostly though to the steady nerves and strong leg of our team’s kicker. Oh, and probably some thanks to our special teams defense which jumped off sides a couple of times showing how easily they could get above the line to block the other kicker. When a legal snap finally happened, he rushed and kicked it low and to the left. And this was a kid who was booting the ball from 30 yards out in warm ups. But, warm ups don’t count do they? It’s all about what you do at game time and our guy did it and theirs didn’t.
Ah, on a sadder note though, my mom and I watched with our hearts aching because our boy only got in for the minimum 10 plays this time. He went the entire first half on the sidelines. This after being the stud interception machine on defense for two years. After the game when he came over to greet me the first thing he said was “10 plays mom”. So I asked him again if he wants to talk to his coach and he said yes. Hopefully this time he doesn’t back down from that decision.
No pictures this week – I was on duty! 10am-8:30pm. Ack. Yes, I signed up for it, I know. Good thing I really love football games like this! Also a good thing that I know enough people in the community that each game held my interest because I knew people there. But man am I wiped OUT! I was on my feet a lot, walked a TON and also walked up and down steps a TON.
Oh, and despite nobody guessing, the questions from yesterday were about my cats and my oldest son. It occured to me after about 3 nights in a row of having MM wake me up when he comes home (largely because his bedroom is just beneath mine and he tends to slam doors), I had to laugh and tell him that he hasn’t interruped my sleep like that since he was a toddler! The other two issues were the cats of course. Chip, who has an insane love of the bathroom and nealy always is either already in there or else scampering in with me, and then Amber who keeps chewing on SportsBoy’s football pads.
And with that..good night. I am so done!
