To my chat buddies – it’s not you it’s me! 🙂 Actually I have not had any quiet moments to visit. When I get home this week I am cooking and making sure DS2 is doing homework, then he and I watch the Padres on tv together and the next thing you know it is time for him to go to bed – and everyone else is already asleep too! At well. It’s just the merry merry month of May.

Speaking of May – HUGE improvement over April all around. The Padres agree with me as they are working on adding to their 9 game win streak tonight.

Ok, so while watching the Padres last night something came up which is sparking a rant. To Mr Corporate Marketing Bozo: Televised sports events are FAMILY oriented TV. This means – STOP with the darn Victoria’s Secrets cleavage..er…bra ads. Oh, and the new Carl’s Jr spots where they tout the increased “breast size” of their chicken breast sandwiches? NOT subtle!! For heaven’s sake there is one that until the last 3 seconds looks just like a girl visiting a plastic surgeon to have a breast enhancement!! They even say “breast enhancement” and comment that “Oh yes, these are quite small.” and “Increased breast size will make you feel so much better about yourself.” WHAaaa????? First of all, stop the fucking continued denigration of small-breasted women!! NO, I do NOT appreciate that crap. I am a goddess regardless of my breast size thankyouverymuch. NO, I do not need larger breasts to feel better about myself. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Secondly, WHY are these ads on while my 9 year old son is watching??? Do I want to explain them to him?? Oh hell no!! Do I want HIM getting that “bigger breasts are better” message already? Double hell no. It was suggested that during out feminism workshop at the YearlKos convention one of the topics should be the depiction of women in advertising. Well, have I got a couple of examples for us to chew on!!

On a lighter note – down to the final four on American Idol. They sang Elvis songs which put the final girl at a distinct disadvantage. Sure enough – she was not good. Given that one of her songs last week was really horrid, I truly hope she goes home this week. The remaining men have been far and away consistently better. I want to hear more of them. I am no longer interested in her. I think I voted (text messages) about 15 times for each guy tonight!
