Big Weekend coming up

The Play is on Saturday! I just checked in with DS1 who is madly rehearsing every night. He is AMPED. He has one solo for sure and he said the rehearsal of it last night was amazing – sounds like he is surprising himself. The play actually starts performances tomorrow night!! We are going on closing night – just a 3 day run at the Unitarian Universalist church in Escondido. He has had so many ups and downs leading into this performance, but I really think he is bitten by the stage bug now. At least, I hope so. I think it would be a great outlet for him. Personally I know I am going to be boo-hooing :-> My mom probably will too. Shoot, knowing my soft hearted man, he might too!! It will be a family outing with my parents, DS2 and SP on Sat night.

Given how busy I have been, one would think I have been out of touch with the news. Thanks to all those great video hosting sites though – not true at all! YouTube & Crooks and Liars have been regular stops for me each night where I get to catch up on things. Again, I must give a shout out to Keith Olbermann for finally providing a voice of opposition. He is measured, precise and giving voice to what so many of us have been screaming at our tv’s since Bush was elected. Then there was the Big Dawg. Bill Clinton. A man who I must admit I never voted for! My political evolution was only completing in 1998 so I missed out. I have never quite been sure what to make of him. Is he a an utter scoundrel? Oh hell yeah. Yet despite the fact that I did not initially cast a vote for him, and despite his personal daliances, I always felt good about him. His post-president career working for charities with Bush Sr has been admirable, but any alliance with a member of the Bush family makes me squeemish so I always looked at that with a crooked eye. However, the beat down that he deservedly gave to the Fox News reporter – well damn folks, that is a side of him I like to see!! About time someone (again) told it like it is and challenged the right wing media outlet on its bias. For me, it was the GOP’s treatment of Clinton during his presidency which pushed me away from that party. I was so disgusted with the conspiracy theories and propoganda pieces I would get in the mail that I basically ended up in Clinton’s corner because I felt sorry for him! Like Jon Stewart said this week – yes, Clinton was distracted during his presidency – by the GOP and their witch hunt!! And yet this same GOP cabal of war profiteers are trying to pin blame for everything on Clinton. Ugh. Sorry guys, not so stupid over here as to not see through your lies and smears and complete inability to ever take ownership of your own screw ups. I can’t believe I am saying this, but bring back the Goldwater conservatives!! PLEASE!! Somebody take the GOP back away from the very frightening people currently in charge, ok?

Whoo – went off on a tangent there…ah well..its my blog and I’ll rant if I want to :->

Now I will treat myself to some pie. Starwberry rhubarb. My favorite. No, I have not walked yet this week, but I will tomorrow. I gave blood today at the blood drive at work. I have o- so I try to donate whenever I am eligible. Now they even give you a cholesterol reading for free! Anyway..yes..the pie is calling.
