This is ridiculous because the causes of my whinings are all Very Good Things. I should NOT be complaining. However….
Why oh why does the beginning of post season baseball have to clash with my very favorite weekend of the year? The August Moms reunion is the light at the of my summer madness tunnel. I live for it! Now, the baseball thing wasn’t a conflict before, mostly because my team was not very good. But the last two years they have made it into the October Season. Last year, while we were in San Fransisco, the Padres were getting swept by the Cardinals. There was only one game at Petco so I did not miss much. This year though – we are actually ranked #2 and hosting the first two games of the playoffs against – the Cardinals again. Revenge! Which means that game 1 is today. I should be going, right? After all, I don’t leave for Maine until tomorrow. Yeah…no. Reason #1 – it’s a day game. Starts at 1:00. If it was a night game, I would figure out a way to get there with Alex. But no. Reason #2 – now, normally missing work for a game is something I can pull off. I would even take Alex out of school in a heartbeat. However, since I am leaving tomorrow rather than my usual Thursday departure for the gathering, I only had yesterday and today to close the month of September. That’s a very short time period even for me! The day I get back to work I have to start generating reports. Sigh…so..no way I can leave today. Oh, yeah and minor detail Reason #3 which I cannot go – no money!! Obviously everything I can scrape together is going with me to Maine. And all of this would not be so bad if not for the fact that two people from work ARE going, including my frequent seat partner. AND – I cannot even WATCH the game on TV!! Waaah Waah waaah.
I must focus on why this is all happening: The Padres made the postseason and I am going to see many of my friends in a very short time. Waaay worth with one day of torture.
Hit M up for some cash, girl! Seriously, if the Pads are playing on TV, we’ll watch with you. Maybe we can find a sports bar somewhere that will have your game on. Can’t wait to see you — pack your woollies.
