Those pictures are perfect examples of just how adorable she can be, and also how annoying! The disciplining of both Amber and her male playmates began last night. SP has decided that getting a cat was a good idea after initially grumbling about it (he wants a bulldog). DS1 and 2 of course were ecstatic about the idea. Well, of course the guys all fight over whose cat she is while I make sure she is fed and watered and littered. DS1 does assist with those too to his credit. However, when it comes to play time, it’s the boys who do it. Which means that they let her do whatever she wants. Meanwhile I am shooing her off my laptop, the kitchen table, the plants, the computer desk etc. Mean mommy. Then SP says “I think she needs to use the litter box.” Umm..why? “Because she is squatting in your plant!” Arrrrgh!!! He just watches her do this whereas earlier I had picked her up and dropped her in her litter box when she was checking out the dirt. Sigh. So now my two indoor potted plants are outdoors. They will be fine on the protected front porch – and it could use some greenery so it’s OK, but I just had to laugh at his complete inability to discipline π
Life with a kitten
Get yourself a squirt gun or a squirt bottle. Any time Amber is being naughty, give her a spritz and a “No!” She’ll get the idea quickly. To keep her out of your plants, sprinkle the dirt with cayenne pepper. One sniff and she’ll take off.

awwwww, Amber is beautiful!!! Another thing that helps keep animals out of your plants is human hair–stop by the hairdresser/barber on the way home from work. π Congratulations!!! It’s a girl.
