Day one observations

It is totally unfair if when you fly, the movies you would see going both east or west are actually movies you have already seen! Especially when you only see about 2 movies a year! Of course the movies which start on the 15th of the month are ones I have not seen and would want to see. Figures!

Chicago is gorgeous from the air at night. The section immediately surrounding downtown and the lake front is just a shimmering orange/amber colored bed of lights.

Chicago is not so gorgeous from inside an airplane sitting at the gate waiting for 90 mins while they fix something on a wing flap.

If you use the Disney Magical Express pick up service, make damn sure the luggage tag they sent you will STAY ON YOUR BAG!! Otherwise, it may get ripped off somewhere before your destination and not get picked up by the resort. Then you panic because you have no change of clothes or shoes or underwear or cosmetics. So you thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster that you have a dear friend with a car who can take you to a Wal-Mart and get everything you might need in case your bag is never found. You also thank Disney for being on top of filing a baggage search claim and offering you a $50 room credit to offset your purchases (even though it is really the airline’s fault). If you are really really lucky when you return from your shopping trip, your bag will be waiting for you in your room (phew!)

Why is it every time I see K4mom in Florida we end up at Wal-Mart?!!! And why is it she tries to kill me every time I ride in a car with her?? SNAKE!!! :->

You know you are in the heart of Florida when you see a skywriter doing a smiley face and then spelling out “Jesus loves you.”

Disney’s Magical Express is anything BUT! Waited so long after getting on the bus that I really could have retrieved the ‘lost’ bag on my own and just brought it on. Took 45 mins to get to my resort. Then waited 40 mins for a porter to take me to my room since these grounds are totally spread out and I gave up and just walked it. When you add up the 90min delay in Chicago, the bus wait, the bus ride, the porter screw up and then Springing Forward, I did not get in the bed here until 5:00am. Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Somehow I always end up visiting with Dallas mom and her family at some sort of amusement park!! Two in San Diego and now here. I’ll post pics of the gals when I get home.

Off to bed! The conference starts tomorrow and looks to be non-stop. Need to take a bus over to where it is all being held so it’s an early alarm for me in order to get the free breakfast they provide. Of course, I now have 2 cute new outfits to choose from and I got my own clothes back so it all ended up fine in the end :->
