Kitties and quick notes

Amber in fancy new carrier that SP gave us.

Amber and Chip looking innocent and regal in the afternoon sunlight.
Yeah, that never lasts too long!
Second mammogram was completed two weeks ago. Films to surgeon and consultation done. Surgical biopsy to clear out any remaining cells on the 14th. Hopefully and end coming soon to these challenges. Meanwhile I went to give blood yesterday and my iron was ‘critically low’ – under 10. It needs to be at 12.5 to donate and I usually do measure just between 12.5 and 13. Never high. Once before I was too low to donate, but not below 10!! Sigh…I don’t like aging! It really makes no sense given the diet changes I made. I eat so much healthier now and much of what I eat is quite high in iron and vitamin C which is supposed to help with iron absorption. Now I guess I have to check where I am in my cycle before I make an appointment AND take some iron supplements for a few days leading up to it. This is something I will ask about after the whole a-typical cell issue is cleaned up.

DS2 is going to have fun with his Little League team this weekend. They get to sleep over on Friday night in the ‘barracks’ at the So Cal LL headquarters in San Bernadino and then play their game Saturday on some fancier fields. One of the dad’s on the team is taking he and 3 other boys up Friday and I will go up Sat for the game. The usual manic weekend continues with a Powerhouse game early Sunday am and then his school’s annual carnival that afternoon. The year has just FLOWN!!! It’s already May and carnival time again? We are already looking at when he can fly out to Sweden for the summer! Yikes!

It seems so weird to be in the second month of the Padres season and to have only gone to 3 games! I do miss it. Being right across from Petco this past weekend I really wanted to just walk form the convention center to the game. In prior years I would have gone Friday and Sunday. Sigh….someday again. I promise!

  1. Hmmm, reminds me that I should get some baseline bloodwork done at my next regular doctor’s appointment. Sorry to hear about the funky iron levels.

When I was in college, many moons ago, I was having fainting spells, for no apparent reason. I eventually figured out it was blood sugar levels, which is why I try to nibble throughout the day now. BUT, at the time, I started taking iron supplements daily. I then ended up with too much iron, which is not good. Be sure to watch yourself with it… it’s a finicky one.
