Land of confusion and really small worlds

Last summer I handed down my digital camera to DS2 for his birthday and bought myself a newer one. The new one was on sale and only a couple of megapixels better then the old one, but with a few more features and better zoom. We are not fancy picture takers by any means and I usually spend very little on a camera. The new one worked great until the weekend in Maine when it just froze. I messed with it for awhile, then set it aside and forgot about it. DS2 and I shared the old one as needed. Randomly I remembered the broken camera and looked up some message boards which recommended a total power down (remove all batteries for a day to ‘reboot’ the camera computer chip). Forgot about it again. I was cleaning my desk a few weeks ago, found the camera again and put it back together and it worked! I’ve used it off and on a few times and it keeps turning on and off with no issues. So, I told DS2 to go ahead and take his camera with him to Sweden. This weekend I went to download the photos from the newer camera…umm..where is the chord? Turned the house upside down and could not find it. The last place I had it was probably in Maine. Nice. I needed a proper docking station for this one anyway so I went online to find one. Ok. THEN I get this idea that if this camera is properly supplied (for under $45), I can give it to DS1 for his upcoming birthday and then get myself an even BETTER new one because it turned out that Dell was having another sale and I could get a 10 megapixel with a larger view screen and faster shutter time for nearly as little as I paid last year! Perfect. So now I wait for the docking station kit (which will work for both newer cameras) and for DS2 to start sending me pics from Sweden. I’m going to wait awhile. Apparently the bag he packed from my house the night before he left is still in his bedroom at his dad’s. Sigh….So when Ex2 heads out he will bring it with him and I will get pics from the second half of vacation 🙂 IOW – no one gets ANY pictures until the new stuff arrives at my house sometime next week. (long way of explaining why I have not posted any new ones of my own!!)

Small World – so on the Padres blog (Gaslamp Ball), I have made a few friends. Last night I went to the game with the gal who is also volunteering with Miracle League and who came down to meet me at the Closing Ceremonies of the 3-Day last year with her lovely care package. We had a great time and found out that we also share a love of dancing to go along with baseball. She is much better since she majored in it and also danced for a living for a number of years, and I am jealous! Now she takes salsa dancing for fun. Something else I want to do once DS2 does not take up so much of my time. Also on the blog is a guy who’s sense of humor always gets me giggling. We got into an exchange yesterday which resulted in him telling me he used to work in radio here in town. Turns out he knows DS2’s football coach from that time. Small fricking world I tell ya!

Awww..DS2 just called me. His grandpa signed him up for swim classes which he hates 😉 Just for 6 days though so he will survive. Playing soccer and badminton and lots of computer games. General summer fun. Lucky kid!
