Ok, enough deep analysis – just some random things from this week:
- Countdown update – 10 days until SportsBoy is home. 11 days until 1st Pop Warner practice. Two weeks from today I will be sitting in Wrigley Field :->
- I need to clean SportsBoy’s room! The week after he left I did his laundry and stripped his bed. The bed is still unmade, the folded laundry is sitting on it and….!! Have I cleaned out his clothes as I planned to get rid of old/outgrown stuff? No. Have I cleared out some book/toys outgrown? No.
- While he was gone I was supposed to take on the rather daunting task of updating the baseball club’s non-profit filing. When did I start in earnest? Last night!
- My left gum still hurts. I am going to see the dentist in 30 mins to have her check it out.
- This weekend I will be at Petco Park Sat night and Sunday. I cannot wait to be back at the ballpark! It’s Tony Gwynn celebration weekend. He goes into the Hall of Fame next weekend and this is a huge deal for the Padres and their fans.
- Interesting conversation on the August list about clothing labels. Of course, I come at it with the slant that it is all ridiculous. Guess I have always been anti-consumerism and “labels”! But then, I come at it from the experience that *I* grew up going to friggin’ Bishops in La Jolla surrounded by trust fund babies and debutantes and I had NONE of the cool designer anythings – yet, I was totally FINE and I personally think that experience honed my appreciation for individualism. So if either of my kids has gone to school – or will go to school – not wearing the latest greatest label – I truly don’t care! They will be fine. And hopefully they will figure out the value of a dollar too as I did in the process.
- I have determined that we are the ONLY family not waiting breathlessly for Harry Potter. Not that we don’t like it. We do. We are just – behind the times 🙂 SportsBoy has enjoyed the movies but never gotten into the books. I don’t have time to read anything but magazines or the occasional really fun novel. I expect we will end up reading the series – but just later on. It is fun to watch everyone speculate though. It’s truly awesome how this series has really spurned a love of reading in our kid’s generation. And it’s awesome that she wrote books the parents could love too.
- My cats have switched personalities. Chip is now the one to hang around and greet a visitor in the house and Amber runs away. Weird. But then, that is cats eh?
- I Hate Peoplesoft!! Why am I posting this at work? Because there is a manjor system down right now. At year end. Our busiest time. Another table that I work in is busted. No sign of repair. We have a Cal Grant auditor on site right now. Our regular outside auditors arrive just after I return from Chicago. Oh yeah! Fun stuff.
Doggie would like to know what your PeopleSoft problem is. He could probably fix it from here. 😉 Seriously…
