Ah, the first real Sunday of Fall

I spent yesterday morning changing out the decor on the mantle to my fall theme and this morning Sportsboy and I lounged around and enjoyed it. To me, this is a classic view of my house on a football Sunday. A game on tv (Packers/Eagles), newspaper and other reading material on the coffee table to get through the commercial breaks, laundry – or in this case, football pads – on the chair as we clean up from the prior week and get ready for another.

As I said, this is a tradition and Sportsboy and I share together. We stay in our pj’s and flop on the sofa to watch the morning game after watching ESPN NFL countdown. This year, we have two furry creatures who decided that lounging around the sofas sounded like a fine plan to them as well:

Amber on top of the sofa, Chip passed out across my lap. All in all, a lovely morning of quality time with all my babies 🙂

Of course, this was closely followed by a 2:30 Powerhouse baseball game which conflicted with the Chargers home opener! So, we set the DVR and tried our hardest not to be exposed to the score. Which was hard since the other baseball families were all following the game via the internet on their phones or else via phone calls from other family members who were at the game!! Oh well. I did hear some updates, but never the final and Sportsboy was totally shielded so we came home and still enjoyed watching a 14-3 victory over the Bears. Oh yes, and they won their baseball game by something ridiculous like 18-1 though I was clearly not paying close attention. Too much time in the sun watching him play something or another this weekend. Fried my brain cells.

An August mom pointed us this week to a site called Goodreads. You may have noticed the icon on the lower right which links to my personal bookshelf there. What perfect timing! I was feeling energized to read some more after finishing a book last weekend and now there is this great way to keep my piles organized. Just logging my books yesterday forced me to clean the book piles in my room yesterday and now I don’t feel so overwhelmed about the To Be Read pile. Once I am finished with the pile that exists here, I will peruse my friend’s lists and gather some new reading material. It’s like a book club, but without the pressure of having a deadline to finish reading the book – perfect!
