No quote today. Too tired to look for one! Instead, you get a bird. A common yellowthroat. Seems to me that such a pretty bird should not have the word ‘common’ in its’ name! Since I am working from home today, I have the windows open for the kitties and I heard a different bird call and looked up to see one of these pretty birdies in the backyard. A lovely treat.
So…yeah…the lack of posts…well… Here we go again? MusicMan was the passenger in a car accident Friday night. Note, I said “passenger” as in, not his fault and not any of our cars! Thankfully, all 3 occupants of the car were wearing their seat belts. The driver lost control switching songs on his ipod. Since the car was in the far left lane next to a median, it immediately jumped up the median curb and struck a tree. IOW, without those seat belts and front air bags, things could have been a lot worse. As it is, the driver has a broken collarbone, MM has two broken ribs and a lacerated spleen and the backseat passenger has a compound fracture of his lower left leg and a broken nose. With MM, the seat belt is actually what lacerated the spleen, but then you get an idea of the force applied. Much rather have the spleen injury!! So, I have been at the hospital with MM for the past three days as much as possible. He came home today and is doing quite well. He slept very well last night and the pain is quite manageable. He is naturally moving quite slowly, but after a pretty rough day mentally Sunday is back to himself. He will be spending the next week taking it very slowly of course. Luckily he had given his notice to Henry’s and had turned in his application to Starbucks. It will mean a gap in paychecks, but that’s OK and it gives him recovery time without worrying about job responsibilities. Henry’s ran until 9/30 so the medical stuff from the accident is covered, plus the driver’s policy will fill in any gaps.
Of course, just as I am able to get back into a normal routine, I will leave! I swear, this year all manner of crap has fallen down the week before I am about to go on a trip. Three times now. Florida, Chicago and now San Antonio. All of it totally not under my control in the least. Stuff just happens. Work drama all three times. This time it is the ending of the audit and my time has been in huge demand in addition to regular month end things I need to get done before I go. Then something outside of work happens to prevent me from being at my desk as much as I need to be. Argh!! Ah well. That only ensures that I am good and ready to get the hell out of town!
And honey — we are good and ready to HAVE YOU out of town (and with us).
