How to amuse cats

First, work from home on Thanksgiving week since schools are closed. Work must be done rather than it being pure vacation time off since there is this, oh, minor little trip possibly happening in less than two weeks. Since the weekend was spent out of the house at various football and baseball fields, focus during the first day at home on catching up on weekend chores. Cats love that. Pick up all their stray toys and put them in a pile. Bring out the vacuum. Watch one cat haul butt upstairs and the other climb up to the highest perch from which to watch the cleaning. Then, fold laundry. Cats love to help with that. Then sit down at the laptop with all the silent auction paperwork and try to get that to tie out. Periodically remove cat from paperwork. Scratch her head first, but then shoo her away. Finish auction work and transition to the PC and data entry for work. Shoo cat off paperwork and from out in front of pc monitor. Realize it is after 4:00 and the meal you want to make for dinner requires ground beef that is frozen. It’s not so late that you need to use the microwave, so just fill the sink with hot water and set the bag of meat there to defrost for about 30 mins. Now watch the cats:

Almost got it! But, darn that water stuff.
