Dang!
Ok, quickly then since I really wanted to get through my political evolution and clearly I won’t ever have spaces in time to focus on this.
If you have been following along, you know I was not quite 20 and at UCSD full time when I found out I was pregnant. Clearly even though I moved in with the dad, we were not going to be financially on two solid feet. So I had to rely on some govt aid to get the proper pre-natal care and also well baby care for DS1. Heck, had to rely on govt assistance just to eat! I am not ashamed in the least to say that. Indeed, I was grateful as could be. I do believe those programs need to be there. Of course there will always be people trying to “game” the system. But I think that is a much lower price to pay than not having a system sufficient enough to help the majority who are in need for whom it will just be temporary. Charities alone cannot do it on a guaranteed long-term basis. The price to society for turning our backs on those is need is much greater than the ones who take advantage IMHO.
Hallelujah…from your “rehabilitated Republican” pal, Jax.
