Back from Nashville

The things we do for work! Left Sunday early AM and got back this afternoon at 3:15. Still not 100% from that cold so feeling the tired probably more than usual. Eyes hurt. Quick story from today. Walking across the bridge at the San Diego airport to get to the Cloud 9 pickup, a man walking towards me about 20 feet ahead suddenly fell against the glass wall and hit the ground hard. Then he started convulsing. The people nearest him immediately swooped around him (he was alone) and there was an airport official thankfully in the walkway who immediately radioed for help. However, the people initially around him did not seem to know what to do. I recognized it as a seizure and had this voice in my head say “roll him on his side!” So I said that as I passed by. “Trust me, I think you are supposed to roll him on his side.” Since so many people were already there helping and I really am NOT a medical person I continued on. But as I sat down waiting for the shuttle, I could look up at the walkway with its glass walls and see them as the tended to him and they were NOT rolling him on his side! Now, he was large and it was probably not easy to do as he convulsed. Then the emergency personell arrived and what did they do? The rolled him on his side! HAH! Thank you ER and Greys Anatomy 😉 I hope he was ok. He seemed young – under 40, very tall but not overly heavy. He also seemed to be conscious at least as they loaded him onto a guerny to put him in the ambulance. I thought of Mimi and what she went through with Randy. So scary.
Anyway, just glad this conference is over. I spent all last week fighting that cold and preparing for the trip. I know the two days at work will be manic. Sigh.
OH! And yes, I DID miss DS2s first pitching assignment. He called to report that he pitched 2 scoreless innings. Because he did so well he should pitch again tomorrow though and perhaps for more innings. I cannot wait to see it!

  1. Christina, how scary! It brought me right back to what happened with Randy. You were so right to tell them to roll him on his side. They should have listened to you!
