First dahlia to bloom! Tons of buds on this one and the other 7 plants in the pots. Only 1 bulb never appeared which is not too bad. For some reason this orange one though is about a foot and a half taller than all the others.
No idea what this is! It seems to be in the yucca family maybe? Long thin spiky leaves. First time in three years that it has produced a bloom stalk though. Really lovely dusty purple outer buds blooming into little white flowers.
Nasturtium (sp?) Grow like weeds in SoCal but are so pretty that I mostly let them go when they appear. I threw some seed pods on the hillside last year and have a nice patch of it out there too.
My favorite rose. Just gorgeous right now with all these buds and blooms. SP gave me this plant for valentines day in 01 or 02. I can’t remember! It is so happy in the ground now at the house.
Leaving for the YearlyKos convention tomorrow AM. Meeting many of my Cheers & Jeers friends in person for the first time AND attending some amazing progressive panel sessions with a lot of very prominent Democrats. Yes, I have the tylenol PM to help me sleep tonight!

You inspire me, Christina! I did spend four hours on my day off Monday weeding my yard and planting some pots, but I’ve got to get some more planting done in the flower beds. I’m thinking of doing more perennials, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten!
