Tales from the fruitcake household

Last night we took our holiday photo. To those of you on my address list, this is a bit of a preview though the picture I chose is different. It was taken before this one which clearly indicates our descent into fits of laughter.

It was the funniest photo shoot ever. It started out rather frantic since Nick arrived home one hour earlier than I had planned and dinner was *just* ready to be served. But it is so hard to get the three of us at home at the same time with an extra person to take the photo so we had to take advantage. So I go into scramble mode and change clothes and order Nick to change his shirt at least (he was in a hooded sweatshirt). Then I get the camera and take a couple of test shots of Alex in spots around the room to get the best lighting. Then since we were all lying on the floor we had to move a few things to give us room to do that. It seemed like every time I was ready to get into my spot either Alex or Nick would get up for some reason or another! It was like herding cats!
Then, we had the comedy team of all of Alex and Marcus. They pick on each other constantly and since Marcus was taking the picture he was taking advantage of the situation and “positioning” Alex with his feet. Ahem. Then there was Nick. He’s 21 remember so he can go to happy hour and have a drink after work if he wants. Which he did. He was just tipsy enough last night to be very happy. His friend who was the driver for the night was also there mercilessly teasing Nick. Then Marcus jumped in on that. It seems Nick was having trouble keeping his eyes open while we were all laying there and smiling. He was a little *too* relaxed and happy! So while Alex and I are trying our best to hold out positions and smile and not blink during the flash, Nick was amusing Marcus greatly. The one-liners from this set of comedians flew fast and furious until none of us could take it anymore.

Nick long ago dubbed Alex “fruitcake”. It has stuck quite well, but I think it is unfair to just label him with that one. We need to face it. That’s just ALL of us!!
