Here is a kittie collage. I tell ya, these two cats could not be more different. Physically of course they are opposites as can be seen. Temperaments too. Amber is so high energy and intelligent and curious and playful and not scared of anything. She is also very happy being handled. Loves to sit on a lap, be carried around like a baby, and to sleep right next to me. Even tolerates nail clipping and fur brushing quite well. Not Chip! He hates to be handled on any terms but HIS. Now, he wont hurt you. Has never raised a paw or used his teeth to express himself – unlike Amber who will swipe and nip when she is done though not as much as when she was first brought home. He just wiggles like mad flailing his legs to get away. We’ll see how he does at the vet. With finances improved and taxes paid, I will get him caught up on his shots and get him fixed in April. I somehow doubt he will just willingly go into the carrier like Amber does!!
Today I distracted myself with something a little more substantive than blog personality wars. I watched the Senate hearing on the Department of Justice firings of the Attorney Generals – one of whom was San Diego’s Carol Lam. Here I thought she was awesome with her investigations into corruption on the local city council, the Duke Cunningham takedown and the prosecution of the head of the Arrelano-Felix drug cartel which is a huge border/drug problem here locally. Sadly, the White House preferred she focus on immigration and gun cases. Yeah, well I don’t quite agree with that especially since she was never even warned about any of those “issues” with her performance. Anyhow, here is what I observed today at the hearing. First of all, it is about damn time there was some oversight of this Administration! 6 years they have been able to pretty much do what they wanted without so much as a peep of a question and then if anything WAS said they accused the questioner’s patriotism. Cowards and bullies. Anyway, what I noticed was that our male senators from both parties sure do like to listen to themselves talk!! I now, this is going to sound so sexist, but really, it was pathetic! Ok, I supposed I should remember that most law makers are, in fact, lawyers! Therefore listening to their own pontifications is something they relish. But damn it was often hard to figure out what they devil their questions were when they would finish. In that regard I felt sorry for Kyle Sampson (Atteorny General Gonzales’ former chief of staff who resigned over this issue) today. However, when Diane Feinstein (D-CA) had her alloted time, man did she cut to the chase! Went for the jugular too. Especially on behalf of Ms Lam. Nice quick statements with very pointed questions that clearly could only be answered “yes” or “no” and which actually advanced the process. I think Senator Schumer (D-NY) was at least pretty good at asking direct questions once he was done blowing wind. Even got onto Mr Sampson’s case for not answering his specific questions when some verbal dancing would get going. I do believe that KS may have said “I don’t remember” more than Reagan said “I don’t recall”!! Fun stuff – for me anyway :->
