The coolest item and movie review

This is the trunk organizer. The purple bags are my shopping bags – bright enough colors for ya? This thing is so cool because it can be setup to include 4 compartments, or the set of three above, or just two large ones. It has an insulated carrier in the center right now too. This way, when I put my groceries in the back, they wont slide around, fall over etc. If for some reason I will have a longer time between buying items and getting home, I can use the insulated pack to keep frozen items cold. It’s the one down side to a wagon really – I was always trying to figure out how to place the groceries so that nothing slid around. I often used the beach chair and large coat I keep in the back as barriers to hold things in place. This new thing is so much better! Only $23 too. I just could not walk away from that!

Went to see SiCKO last night. Man oh man – I think everyone should see it. This is not a political movie AT ALL. I mostly came away feeling really angry at the insurance and pharmaceutical companies. Also a little miffed at people long since passed away who created this ‘system’. Mostly I was sickened myself by how much better it can be and also at the utter complacency of people. There is some exploration into why we are complacent. Fear is a powerful tool, is it not? But the utter disgrace to me was seeing hospitals ‘dump’ patients in front of charitable centers on skid row simply because they cannot pay for the treatment they received. It’s become so prevalent that there is now even an assembly bill in Calif attempting to outlaw this practice. You mean it ISN’T illiegal already?? It’s illegal to dump animals, and babies, why not adults? Horrifying really. It’s such a true statement – we need to become a nation of ‘we’. In so many other instances we are. Why not about health care? Why is such a basic component of every human being’s life a for profit industry – and not even for profit as in for the people giving the care, but for the industries “supporting” the system? Why is it that doctors in our medical system are rewarded for denying care, and doctors in other countries earn bonuses for keeping patient’s healthy? Seems like we have it backwards here in the greatest country doesn’t it?

  1. Want to see the movie. Doesn’t even look like it’s playing around here, except in the city, I’m guessing. That’s a bit of a haul, but not much. I’ll see it soon, sooner than later anyways…

  2. We also saw Sicko last weekend. I echo your feelings totally! Another thing that got to me is the way people in other countries are LAUGHING at us!! Imagine … in the wealthiest country in the world, people are not entitled to decent healthcare unless they can pay for it. It’s hard enough to have a serious medical condition, but to have to worry about money on top of being seriously ill is just outrageous. I wonder what we can do about it as mere citizens without millions of dollars to buy the politicians.

  3. I want to see Sicko, too. Maybe Radio Mom will agree to go to another controversial film with me. Can you post a link or a further description of that trunk organizer? I could probably use one in my minivan.
