Getting ready. The helmet was delivered to practice and here he is getting it fitted. For the first week, they do fitness training wearing the helmet only. After the required 10 hours of fitness training, they can put on full pads which will begin next week.
Stretching! Situps!
Lunges! They also ran laps and did footwork drills and up downs (brutal!). After an hour, they got a water break.
You think he would be shell shocked. Sit on a plane for over 15 hours on Sunday, then onto the practice field Monday. He is lucky though. Last year, he returned to the horrible humid heat wave that blistered the summer for about 3 weeks. Yesterday was gorgeous. High 70s by the time they took the field at 5:00pm, and breezy. Sure, they worked so hard he was sweating after the first round of drills, but it was nothing like last year. Sportsboy was fine other than a slight muscle strain which he of course did at the Boys & Girls Club during the day while playing basketball. He came off limping a few times at the break, but was OK. He has been instructed today to SIT! Play pool, play foosball, play on the computers, do art, but DO NOT play basketball! We’ll see how he listens 🙂
