If you thought the last post was tiring….

…here was today (just to show that weekends are no better right now):

8:45 – Drop SportsBoy off at UCSD baseball field for a 3 hour Padres Alumni skills camp. Chat with coach who got him into this event for a bit.

9:30-10:45 – Get gas. Drop off dry cleaning. Pay annual P.O. box rental for Powerhouse. Mail off copy of trust documents to off site storage. Put another set in safe deposit box in bank. Talk to bank manager to switch over accounts into the trust’s name. Stop at home to put on sunscreen.

11:00-12:30 – Watch last bit of camp (in hot sun, hence the sunscreen stop).

12:45-1:30 – home for quick lunch and to p/u MusicMan

2:00-4:00 – Meet with attorney. Cut attorney off at 4:00 and re-schedule another hour late on Tuesday because MM needs to get to work and SportsBoy and I need to meet friend from work downtown at 5:30.

4:00-5:30 drive home (from Hillcrest). Change clothes. Drive downtown to Petco for the game.

10:30 return home after another freaking Padres loss!

In the previous post, Jax commented that she hopes I get some time to relax like my kitties 🙂 Well, it wasn’t quite that, but I did have an odd moment of peace this morning. After dropping off SportsBoy as I drove back towards home for my errands,  my favorite radio station was replaying a segment from earlier this week when Colin Hay of Men At Work was in studio. He sang three songs live for them with just an acoustic guitar. I didn’t want to miss any of it, so I parked my car in a back area of the parking lot and just sat and listened. I had the volume up a little higher than usual, though not blaring. But it was enough to drown out the outside noise. My car was facing the street, so I could see cars going back and forth, but not hear them at all. It was as if I was in a movie theatre, watching the street scene in front of me, with a soundtrack playing over it. And the soundtrack was beautiful. Haunting. I watched 3 women walk by talking and gesturing and laughing. I recognized one of the Barbies driving by alone in her car. I saw a dad with his son in a truck. I started imagining each of their stories for the day. It was a perfect little slice of the day when I just sat back and took in everything my senses were detecting and I let my mind focus on those things rather than my own story. I’m glad I had the presence of mind to feel that moment.
