Odds and Ends

To follow up on an earlier post: I lost – but then I won! Both guys did nothing that day (figures), but then, they both made appointments the next day and MM already saw his PCP yesterday and got his referral. SP sees his PCP on 9/6. Progress!

So I have something new to bitch about – parents who cannot follow the drop off line rules!!!! Now that I am working at the school on Tues & Thurs am to assist with this process, I am seeing just who thinks the world revolves around them 🙂 Oh, and it is really fun because the principal also assists and she takes no prisoners!! I position myself at the front of the line – the place where cars are supposed to pull up to make room for everyone else and keep the line moving. I have an obnoxious orange vest that they provided and I wave my arm like a baseball third base coach waving the runner home.  Drivers cannot exactly say the didn’t seem me waving up to the front before they stop! Of course, that means nothing. Today, as the cars moved through, there was a slow one about 5 spaces back unloading a large group of kids and backpacks. The principal was assisting them. The car behind that one could have easily told his child to get out right there, but he sees all this open space up front and rather quickly pulls out and around the other vehicle….only to stop RIGHT in front of it!! Not that he was pulling out of line to go to the front and clear space – NO – he was just going up one spot!! Well, I immediately commented to my friend who was working with me that the guy was ridiculous and should be pulling all the way up. Of course, he could not hear me. Not to worry – the principal was already yelling at the guy “Pull all the way up! No, don’t open that door – pull all the up first!” Too funny. The guy looked quite sheepish as he pulled up to my spot and I opened the door for his daughter to hop out.  The principal then says “Don’t be afraid to yell at these people. We need to keep the kids safe and line moving!” Heehee.  I’m liking this volunteer job quite a lot!!

Retail therapy – I am taking pics tonight of my new shoooz!! At Marshall’s on Sunday where we shopped for SportsBoys school clothes, I caught a glimpse of the women’s shoe rack. I had no time that day to go by there, but I made a mental note to get back there this week with stockings on so that I could re-stock my work shoe supply. It occurred to me that I have not purchased a new pair of work shoes in about….5 years? Seriously! I am not a shopper at all. I know lots of women who actually cruise by places like Marshall’s and Target and Mervyns and Kohls and malls etc etc just periodically for the fun of it. Not me. I shop about once a year for myself and then I just go all out. Last year it was work suits and tops. This year, apparently it was shoes!! There was a great selection and I got new shoes in every color that I needed except navy and gray. Which is ok since I really only have one pair of navy pants which may end up in the donation pile soon and I can get away with black when I wear my charcoal gray suits.  I actually prefer buying shoes at places like Marshalls vs department stores. I was able to walk around in my stocking feet grabbing pairs of shoes off the racks and trying them on and then walking around in them as I continued looking. No waiting for someone to help me and then go in the back and bring out the boxes. I could change my mind a dozen times without continuing to send some poor salesperson back and forth. It was 45 mins of fun and I ended up with 5 pairs of shoes all for $30 and under.
