A miracle has occured!

I read….a BOOK! A fictional book!!! Shoot, the last time I did that was 6 months ago when I read a book since the author gave it to me.

However, over the last 24 hours I *finally* read The DaVinci Code! The illustrated version. It was given to me as a 40th b-day present. Yes, that was over 2.5 years ago!! It sat at the bottom of a ‘to be read’ pile of books which I would kind of work through, but then spontaneously add a new book at the top so that this one continued to be buried. Then the Labor Day weekend heat wave struck and quite frankly there was nothing humane TO do except lay in front of an open window out of the sun and simply read. I am glad that I was given the illustrated version. That was a LOT of fun!! Since I am also 3/4 through a book I bought at the Art Institute detailing their Impressionist and Post-Impressionist collections with perfectly sized summaries of each artist and painting, my mind was geared for something related to artistic works. It was a great ride and boy does it make me want to go to Europe to visit the places highlighted in the book. Particularly the Louvre! Anyhow, while the writing to me was rather simple and commercially safe (along the lines of Grisham), the topic was fascinating and most certainly I will be looking at the works of Da Vinci and religious imagery and symbols with a much more aware eye! Of course it has always been about the goddess – I could have told you that ;->>>

OK, it’s too hot here at the computer. I must move back to my open window – with another book! You see, I actually read EVERY magazine in my rack before I picked up the book. So now it is on to some non-fiction (I alternate) with The Assault on Reason by Al Gore. That one shot to the top of my non-fiction pile as soon as it was released 🙂

  1. Oooh, good book too! I remember poring through that when I read it. My Read List is kinda big too. I just haven’t read anything book-wise in a long time. I’ve got plenty to read, both fiction and non-fiction… Even Harry Potter books sit on my bookshelf, gack. 🙂
