2007 in review

From Add it to the List:

1. Where did you begin 2007? LOL! Of all the years to answer this one – I began it in Oxnard. At the house of one of SP’s friends where I was helping SP and his brother install crown molding! I made dinner for us workers and got Martinellis for us to toast the New Year. MM called just before from a party, crying, because his girlfriend had just broken up with him. When he called I was up on a ladder in a guest bathroom painting newly installed molding – truly the oddest new year EVER!

2. Did you have to go to the hospital? Not me personally, but MM did spend a few days in one and I was there a lot of that time.

3. Did you have any encounters with the police? Me personally, no. I did speak to an officer while MM was in the hospital trying to get info on the accident. Then I saw the same officer on the tv three weeks later as he pushed someone’s car and belongings out of the driveway of a house that was engulfed in flames during the firestorm. Good man.

4. Where did you go on vacation? No real “vacation” but I did spend two long weekends away in Chicago for YearlyKos and in San Antonio for the August mom gathering.

5. What did you purchase that was over $500? Nothing if you exclude travel.

6. Did you know anybody who got married? Yeah, my ex! Just yesterday. I was not invited of course 🙂 But SB was the ring bearer and I talked to him after yesterday and he said it went well although he was VERY nervous and his hands were sweating – too cute.

7. What sporting events did you attend? Even without season tickets for the first time in 4 years, we still attended many Padres games at Petco Park. I really should count about the last 4 games of the Pop Warner season too as those could definitely be called ‘events’!

8. What concerts/shows did you go to? A down year for concerts! Normally I would be rattling off a rather large list. Just Van Halen this year.

9. Where do you live now? Northern Coast of San Diego

10. Describe your birthday: It is Jan 3 so not much usually happens. In ’07 though we all (parents, kids, boyfriend) went to a really nice restaurant – The Prado in Balboa Park.

11. What’s the one thing you thought you would never do, but did in 2007? Heehee – another funny one which I highlighted in my holiday card letter – I fainted on a Disney roller coaster!! Eerily it is the same coaster that someone died on just this month. That was freaky.

12. What’s something you learned about yourself? Just to be comfortable in my own skin.

13. Any new additions to your family? Yes, two cats.

14. What was your best month? No one month – it was a season – Pop Warner Sept-Nov.

15. What music will you remember 2007 by? Easy – AC/DC Hells Bells – SB had to listen to that on the way to every football game. It’s also the intro for the Padres closer Trevor Hoffman and we were thrilled to see his 500th career save.

16. Made new friends? Yes! In Chicago I finally met several people in person who I had only chatted with previously online. Bill in Portland Maine, and particularly his partner Michael who is my new Bud 🙂 On the blogs I have enjoyed ‘meeting’ Bunny, Calvin, Robin and then most recently Wreke and Dee.

17. Favorite night out? The patio in Chicago! Every night of Ykos the rabble would congregate in the bar of the hotel (which truly did run out of liquor!) and spill out onto the attached patio for those who liked to smoke (and just didn’t want to be stuck inside on a gorgeous summer night). That patio was the source of new friendships and great debates and lots of laughter and silliness. Our rallying cry for the ’08 Netroots Nation event in Austin has already been “Is there a Patio?!”

18. Any regrets? Oh yeah. Blog related too, but let’s not get into that!

19. What do you want to change in 2008? – Hey, I’m holding that for my Resolution post! But, exercise is a part of it as this was probably my most sedentary year.

20. Overall, how would you rate this year? 7

21. Other than home, where did you spend most of your time? In my office and at a baseball/football field.

22. Change your hairstyle? No.

23. Buy a new car? Yes and no. I downsized from my big sedan to a small station wagon which was essentially a trade. No money was spent.

24. Any car accidents? Me? No. One for MM as a passegner.

25. How old did you turn this year? 42

26. Do you have a New Year’s resolution? I am working on it. See future posts.

27. Do anything embarrassing? Can’t think of anything.

28. Be honest – did you watch American Idol? Oh yes! It’s one of only 2 network shows that I watch!

29. Start a new hobby? I did successfully start reading books again.

30. Will you be happy to see 2007 go? Not happy in the sense that it was bad, but happy in that I always look forward to new things.

31. Been naughty or nice? I’d say nice. I have found that, overall, my life is kind of boring, but in a good way! (Copying Calvin on that answer since it is perfect for me too).
