Preamble – watching it from the DVR as I was hooked on election returns and Hillary and Barack were just starting to speak at 8:00. Looks like Clinton has a reason to continue, to ‘hope’ if you will 🙂 Bummer!! With the GOP done now this is really grating on my nerves. But, gotta hand it to Hillary, she pulled out a big one in Ohio. Obama will still lead in the delegate count after today and apparently has sewn up 50 more super delegates so I think he still has the edge. But, this will go on through all the states from what Hillary declared in her speech tonight. Fine. Bring it on I say. In his speech he is already lumping Hillary with McCain which is fair game since SHE lumped HERSELF with McCain in a statement yesterday. Ugh! What was she thinking? I tell you, if the Dems screw this up and she ends up with the nomination not only would it energize the GOP with their supreme Clinton hatred, but there will also be a lot of disenchanted and truly pissed off Dems. Which is, of course, what the GOP wants hence Rush Limabugh telling listeners to cross party lines and vote for Clinton in their primaries now that theirs is settled. Grumble!!!!!!!!!
80s night!!! Oh yes! I told Aimee Greeblemonkey last week that if it’s 80s, it must be WHAM!!!
Luke Menard – Wake Me Up Before You Go – HAH!! Right out the gate – WHAM baby!!! But, why oh why did it have to be Luke???? Oh lawdy he sucks. Sorry folks…he’s easy on the eyes but the vocals were bad and he sang way too fast! Either the arrangement was too fast or just sang right past it. His falsetto was…shrieky. He truly needs to go home.
David Archuletta – Another Day in Paradise – oh my, this hyper talented kid can play the piano too? Hmmm…well. Ok, to my ears, this was not his BEST performance. He slowed the song down and it was nice, but didn’t show off his voice as it could. I’d like to see him do something upbeat in the future. Ok, and listening to the judges…hah! And then listening to him explain his song choice – this kid is amazing – he is so DEEP. He chose the song for the message. He has this awareness of the world and things that a 17 year old just does not normally have. He’s a gem and even if that was not his best, he will be moving on for sure.
Danny Noriega – Tainted Love – Oooh, very sultry, hard driving version…oooh, I like. He still bugs, but vocally this is one of his better song interpretations. IMHO anyway 😉 Risky, but he needs to stand out. Simon will hate it, but I kinda enjoyed.
David Hernandez – It’s All Coming Back To Me Now – Stripper Boy as ‘revealed’ today all over the gossip sites. As my friend Jax said to me in an email, don’t get famous, they will dig up ALL the shit on you!!! Oh yes, his performance…not bad. Though I still stand by my declaration that ballads are bad. He needed to show off his voice though I think and this one did that well though he missed a few notes. Decent performance, he should sneak through.
Michael Johns – Don’t You Forget About Me – Great song for him! I was thinking he would be the best with the 80s theme because he is very Michael Hutchence-like and I think I was right about that. I like this a lot. Burgundy leather jacket over a t-shirt and jeans, great vocal on the low notes. Oooh. Goose bumpies!
David Cook – Hello – Using the electric guitar with it to make it a rock version. Which always wins points with me since I am a sucker for the rocker, right? 🙂 Well, hell yes, this is working for me. He’s sounds like Eddie Vedder! Softens it a bit at the end. Very unique. I really liked that!! Here was a guy I thought could be vulnerable this week and he nailed it.
Jason Castro – Hallelujah – What? He seems to be trying to fill the folk singer niche for the guys. Weird though. His face strains as if he is about to hit this big note and then he whispers it instead. Showing a soft side, without the guitar for the first time. Again, very unique and taking a chance. It was weird, but I think I liked it!!
Chikezie – All the (Wo)Man I need – Good song choice for him to show off his voice. Started off weak, but he got into it. Dang, I wanted him to totally suck so that I had a clear second choice to go home!!! Not a stand out like the last 3, but not horrible.
Overall the guys were really good (other than Luke!!) tonight I thought. Ok, so who goes home (other than Luke!!)….hmm….Chikeze or Danny? …..Chikeze.
And..MSNBC just called Texas for Hillary. C-R-A-P!! Obama still carries the delegate lead. He should win Wyoming and Mississippi coming up within the next week. Then what? Well, since I am eternally optimistic I will steal the theory from a comment in a DailyKos open thread by teacherken – “I think that (to) have a contest for 7 weeks through Penna might actually be good. For one thing, it will be a lot of free media, which McCain will not have. For another, if the supers can keep it from getting too nasty, it might energize the the party and if Obama survives all the crap the Clintons will throw at them, there will be nothing new that McCain will be able to use.” OK, I will go with that premise as it gives me HOPE 🙂
The more I think about it — the more ticked I am at the Clinton camp for that “3 am” commercial. I get that she wants people to vote for her over Obama. But if Obama wins the Democratic nomination, is that the image she wants people carrying to the polls in November?
(Mike thinks maybe cause then she can run again in 4 years)
