Randomness

This week in politics will be up later tonight, but I had to get these silly thoughts out first.

First, a HUGE thank you to Grandy for my first ever Blog Award!! It’s over there ———–>>>>>
Cool huh? I’ve been ever so envious of the links on my blog roll that display all sorts of pretty awards and now I have one. Weeeee!

We’ve been talking on the August moms group about our kid’s current odd expressions. It was pretty fun how we all thought it was just *our* kid who was being so…um..*random*..only to find out that they nearly ALL blurt out for no particular reason a variation on “I like ___!” For my child, it is “I like pie!” for a few others it was “I like cheese!” Sportsboy will also say “peanut butter!” just for the heck of it. I thought it was just him loving the sound of his own voice (a trait both of my boys have in abundance). Apparently though, it traces its origins to some tv show and has spread like wildfire in the pre-teen world. Oh, and they also love the word ‘random’. They describe themselves as random and wish each other randomness.
Which of course made me try to remember what my generation’s catch phrases were,. but…um…that was..like…you know…like…30 years ago…so…like…there is NO WAY…I can bring any of that back *cough*bullshit*cough* :->> What were the catch phrases in your childhood?

And a bell weather moment folks. This is HUGE. After 15 years of ordering the SAME THING at Starbucks – variations on a mocha and mochas ONLY. This morning, I officially switch to…..(drum roll please)…..Vanilla Lattes!!! I know. Totally blew you away didn’t it? Just breathe. It will be OK. You may go about your Friday business now.

I am SOOOO Random!! :->

  1. I was just thinking that I’ve picked up so many catch phrases from my sons that I don’t remember any of my own. Or does that have something to do with my age and poor memory?

    “Groovy” sounds so dated now if I say it, but I’ve heard it coming out of my youngest son’s mouth and it’s cool when he says it. “Cool” has managed to maintain its coolness. Which is, you know, cool. I can’t think of anyone who says “Right on!” anymore. And “far out” is, well, so far out that I doubt anyone remembers it.

    I’ve been curious about your take on what happened in Pennsylvania this week. Looking forward to reading your opinions about it.
