What happens when you are playing “bump out” on the school basketball court at recess and you get hit in the face with a stray soccer ball from the field which causes you to turn your head quickly in reaction to the soccer ball thump only to smash directly into the basketball pole? You get a lump directly in the center of your forehead like this:
You also get to come home early from school because you understandably have a headache and get a wee bit dizzy when you move too quickly. No other symptoms though. Ice and rest. Oh, and you feel quite a bit embarrassed because you will go back to school tomorrow with this lovely lump probably looking even worse before it goes away. All of a sudden the short hair cut does not seem so wonderful!
No word on the basketball pole. There is the potential for a dent which he will check out tomorrow 🙂

Now THAT is a lump! I bet the pole has a dent. You will have to let us know.
I am glad he wan’t hurt worse. At least he still has all of his teeth!

Whoa! That’s one heck of a lump! Poor guy.
I can’t imagine that the pole got off all that easily either.

POOR BABY!!!! I got some pretty bad stuff that happened to my face once (LONG story – if anyone is interested I’d need to make a private post) and for the next few weeks I was calling my “look” “variations on a raccoon”

Ouch!! Be careful, he may have a minor concussion. That is no big deal, but the key is that he has to be very careful not to re-injure because the brain is more susceptible to swelling within a week or so after getting one. Also if he seems irritable, moody, or forgetful for a week or so afterward that’s likely why.
