As if you hadn’t heard yet 🙂

Yeah yeah, I know I threw out a bunch of logic about how Archie would win and that would be best for Cook and blah blah blah. Yet, after sitting through the 2 hour show – which BTW, was pretty damn good – when it came time for the reveal, in my heart I was still hoping against hope for Cook. And I was freaking surprised and thrilled when he did indeed WIN!! Honestly this is the first season when someone who I was gushing about weeks ago actually WON. I am so very happy for him and his reaction and his family’s reactions were so very sweet. Love how he had everyone stand on stage with him as he sang the winning song. And, after all the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth over how ratings had dropped this year, the overnight ratings for finale showed an *increase* from those of last year’s finale. Almost 20 million more votes cast too. So, the show ended with a bang and I do think both of this week’s shows were the best quality overall by far.

Side note #1 – Hey, FOX? You need to pay attention to the clock! A metric bull load of viewers use their DVRs and watch American Idol about 20 mins behind the live broadcast to FF through commercials. Now, I did not do that last night as I actually needed those commercial breaks to do stuff, BUT, I noticed that the red light went off JUST AS they revealed the winner!! Sure enough, the show ran about 10 mins over in total. Now, yes, you can adjust your programming to take in the extra 5-10 mins run over, BUT, only id you are also not recording another show that normally starts at 10!! I received this rather irritated message from Jax at 10:30 because she fell right into that exact trap and MISSED the reveal!! Thank gawd for YouTube and people posting things like that lickety split because she was able to hop online and see it, but she missed the whole flow of the end and the final song and the boo hooing. That’s a rip off!! So, FOX – get your act together next season and make sure the show can end when it should. Thank you.

Side note #2 – yes, all of the aging performers are indeed aging, BUT, George Michael looked ROUGH folks. Haggard and wane. It frankly concerned me. I loved loved loved the song and his performance was haunting, but I tell you I am wondering if he is not ill.

So…umm…NOW what do I do on Tuesday nights????

  1. Oh no! Since I was posting this on a quick break at work, I didn’t watch the whole thing and I ended up violating my own side note #1??!!!

Cook is the tall one. Now let me add the follow up video. Oopsie!

  2. I actually watched much of the finale. It was good. The Gladys Knight and the Pips thing was hilarious.

George Michael… though he didn’t look that different, it seemed like someone else. Without his energy, his charisma, he wasn’t even recognizable.
