Ow-Wii

I realize that yet again we may be the last people to get into this trend. Yesterday after the middle school orientation, Sportsboy and I had some time to get to know our Wii. I am paying for it today! All sorts of sore muscles! Because, we are Real Men. We totally Wii standing up. I cleared plenty of space so that we could try out every game we had. I think the only ones we missed yesterday were golf and boxing. And from what I hear, boxing is the really good work out. But let me tell you, bowling is pretty darn good too. So is tennis! But I know my soreness is from bowling because I was totally stepping and lunging and swinging my arms and correcting for wrist curls. Dang, it was hard! At the end though I managed to bowl three strikes in a row. Anyhow, it was a fun two hours and I can totally see why people get in shape with this gaming system! Sheer brilliance I tell ya. In fact, here is an article on a gaming addict who actually measured his fitness change after 30 days of Wii use.

  1. OH HONEY

You don’t know pain until you’ve gotten a Wii Fit.

    I’m just sayin’

(As a matter of fact — I’m just saying OUCH).

Oh, I’ll bet!! I want Wii Fit, but of course, they didn’t that in stock this past weekend. I am definitely going to get it though. So, are you trying to make a routine of it and will you measure results?

  2. How sad is this? Adventure Guy made his children eternally (or at least for the weekend) happy by scoring a Wii Fit at Best Buy this Sunday. Then, the painters taped off the game room, and none of us can play it! Soon, soon…

  3. My husband works out of NYC (well, kind of) and was walking past the Nintendo store one day and just happened to go in and there just happened to be two Wiis available. So we have had a Wii for a while. We have Wii Fit, The Boy is really good at Guitar Hero. We have it all and I have only used it twice. I really enjoyed it, particularly playing tennis, but I just can’t get motivated. Maybe I’ll use you to inspire me!

  4. After Christmas last year, my then 6th-grade daughter’s Math teacher asked his students what they got for Christmas. A bunch of hands went up, and the teacher starting calling on this kids. He got to one boy who’d had his arm waving in the air for a while. The boy said, “I gotta Wii…” “Well, don’t just sit there,” said the teacher, “go on, you know where the bathroom is!”

  5. My nephew (actually, my parents) brought his Wii with them during their visit this past spring. We played the doubles tennis, and the bowling too. I have to say, I thought it was a great way to ‘game’. And yes, it’s so fun! I’m quite interested to hear about the Wii Fit… We don’t have a Wii, but maybe one day.

  6. You are not the last house to have a Wii. We don’t have a Wii in The Zone. I’m pretty sure my men wee standing up. The evidence is all over the toilet seat and floor. Maybe my response to your post should be titled, “Ew Wee”. 😉
