Short and to the point tonight because I have to be up at the field tomorrow from 7-5 for Spirit and Picture Day. Largest fundraiser for pop warner.
As an update to SportsBoy’s playing time issue – he told me Teusday after practice that he had “tried really hard”. I looked at him with that sideways glance and asked “As opposed to what for the past 6 weeks?!” Yeah, that little taking it for granted attitude might have had something to do with your game time assignments buddy!! Wednesday he did pull coach aside and I guess got an answer that made sense to him. Meanwhile he had been happy with his opportunities in practice so he went into this game thinking he would have more of a role, and he did. He didn’t start out on the field at first. Of course, the other team scored on the 2nd play from scrimmage so they started in the hole 6-0 (again, a team without a good kicker!). But they battled back and were up 14-6 when SportsBoy started getting his plays in. He was WIDE open on a pass to the outside, but the ball was off target and he juggled it and tried to haul it in but it just bounced away. But he also caught one and ran for 10 yards and then most importantly got in on defense. He also got completely leveled by a boy much bigger than him (yeah yeah, aren’t all of them right? No really, this kid was a foot taller), which was an illegal hit that the ref missed even though it happened in front of him (??), but he bounced right back up and apparently the kid did come back to ask if he was OK which was nice. So he came off the field smiling this week and replaying the plays with his buddies which was nice to see.
