My rating: 5 of 5 stars
In contrast to the last book I read – which I likened to a Harlequin romance – this one shows you how a romantic novel is supposed to be written.
If Nicholas Sparks sounds familiar to you it’s because he wrote The Notebook. A wonderful book and movie. He writes so beautifully, creating characters who are real and compelling and lovable. Set on the coast of North Carolina, this story leads you through a year in the life of a single mom raising a special needs child & the troubled man who rescues both of them (literally & figuratively) and in the process, rescues himself.
It’s often funny & frequently heart tugging. I absolutely enjoyed every chapter and will definitely be seeking out more of his books next year.
Nicholas Sparks is a master at what he does. I’ve read all but two of his 13 novels. I’m currently reading Dear John.
