OK, I was wrong about American Idol this week. Not in Hollywood. Not yet. Next week. Rats! I am kinda done with the on location audition rounds. OTOH, since I have been so busy each night this week and would have struggled to put together a decent review – WHEW!
Is anyone watching the show that comes on after AI on Wednesday nights – Moment of Truth? Oooh, is that one intriguing! Watching people literally sitting on the Hot Seat responding to really touchy/intimate/probing questions with their family and friends sitting right there, after having answered those same questions privately while hooked up to a lie detector so that their on tv answers can be rated either true or false. I love how the host makes some small talk and then transitions to “Question 1” which relates to the topic they just discussed, but hammers it down to a probing question. Whammo! Interestingly I am finding myself most compelled by men in the hot seat. I think it is that mix of male ego and how men are normally not very forthcoming with details of their lives that makes them seem even *more* uncomfortable answering the questions. Anyhow, I am enjoying it and recommend it whole heartedly.

You’re in big trouble, sister. I watched AI thinking I was finally going to hear some singing. I snored through another hour of auditions. Next week, it’s on to Hollywood. Dawg.
I have watched The Moment of Truth. I don’t like it b/c it pries too far into personal lives.

I hear ya on the questions, but I have a counterpoint. They signed up for it!! They are participating on this show for money and know exactly what to expect. Because they answer the questions in private first, they are fully aware of exactly what they will face on the air. If they want to walk away, then can. Their choice. They are not being ambushed at all. And if they are willing to put themselves out there…well..then I am enjoying the entertainment 🙂
