Never Have Your Dog Stuffed: And Other Things I’ve Learned by Alan Alda
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A nice break from memoirs that are downers, Alan Alda writes clearly and with his trademark humor about his childhood, his mother’s mental illness, his struggles to break through as an actor, those glorious days of M*A*S*H and then his near death experience in South America. Alda is blessed with an insatiable curiosity about life & what makes people tick along with a fascination with science and patterns. It was very enjoyable spending time with him and hearing his voice in my head.

No spoilers, short review – fun fun fun even with the darker edges & violence against women aspect. Well written. Stick with it through the first 150 or so pages (hey, its got 644!) because after that it really takes off. I know many got impatient with the setup but I enjoyed it since I’ve been all over Sweden and could picture so much of what is described there. Once I finish my existing pile of books I will dive into the other two in the set.
