Prompt me – #1

(Yes, I have been forgetting to add the badge on my posts…told you guys I suck at this appointment blogging!)

Needing a prompt today as I am currently neck deep in the baseball club’s silent auction preparations for Thursday night and time is precious – as is brain space 🙂

From the Holidailies prompt for today:

Do you still live in the place where you grew up? How far away are you now, and why?

No, I don’t, but according to Google Maps I am just 77.3 miles away from my childhood home.  Quite the adventurer eh? Yeah, not so much. Basically my parents sent me away to high school to San Diego so that they would eventually be motivated to get down here too. Really. And once here I had no desire to go anywhere else. Hey, why would I? There are things like weather and bugs in other places!! <shudder>

I’m such a classic earth sign – put down my roots and I’m not budging! Found a community I liked and while I have lived in several different houses here, I was not about to be anywhere but one of two neighboring zip codes. Buying my own place finally in ’03? Heavenly because it means my roots can grow deeper. Don’t get me wrong, I love to travel and experience different places and cultures. I wish I could do more of that and truly hope to do so in the future. But I will always need to come home.

A home which currently has two cats in it who are at this moment shredding a paper shopping bag…sigh…back tomorrow.

  1. I live a lot further than I did as a child. I grew up in San Jose, California and left for Los Angeles when I graduated from college. I stayed in the city of Lost Angels til 2004 then moved to the bay area again and last August I moved to Portland, Oregon. So this little girl is many miles from home.
